First of all I would like to say hi to everyone here. It is nice to find a new group starting out on an interesting topic.
About Me: I am the son of a former policeman. My dad did 10 years on the Richmond (VA) PD as a patrolman and K-9 officer. So I was introduced to policework and tv shows about law enforcement early on. I was a very little kid when the original "Kojak" was on tv. I honestly don't remember watching it, but I knew my mom followed it being a fan of mystery shows herself. As an adult, I watch the "Law and Order" shows and "Monk" mostly.
"Kojak": Last night I got to see the 2-hour premier. While it set up the basic characters, setting and flow of the show, it also had a great crime story to tell. The whole serial killer plotline reminded me of the movies "Silence of the Lambs" and "Seven". Then the twist at the ending brought out the real personality of Kojak in that it showed how he handles and lives with his job.
Likes: Kojak's captain. He cares for his people but understands the politics of being a city official.
Dislikes: The show seemed to move too slowly for me. This should improve the show begins its 1-hour timeslot. Also I wish USA Network would put it on the same night as "Monk". It would be nice to see two contrasting shows back-to-back.
Overall, it looks like a good new show to watch.
